Ammon and Scouting

There is 7 people in my scoot troop there names are Dalten , Danny , Luckis , Taylor , Briger, and Daxton.

We go to many camp outs once every month. But in the summer we go on a week long camp out and we do five marite bages. Just the last week long camp out we went to was named camp barttlet.

They served you breakfast lunch and dinner every single day. The first day you did to merit bags classes after lunch.
And then after dinner you go to a thing called camp fire. What they do at a camp fire is they put together skits that they do for you.
The second day first breakfast then you go to there mane field and put  up the american flag. after that you go to three merit bags classes. After that that you go to lunch and then after do two more merit badges.

There is also activetys that we do every week with are scoot troop. So far probably the fun-est scoot activity was a archery merit bag. And court of honor is were you receive all of your merit bags. An eagle is the highest rank you can get in the scouting category.

Jarom Scout Troop 307

My scout troop consists of 8 boys. We are all in the Teachers corm

of the Kaysville 9th ward. We go on scout camp once a year and scout camp is a week long camp out that is ether at a scout camp or somewhere in the wilderness. I have only been to a provided scout camp and during the week we would attend merit badge classes for our next rank advancement some other things we do at scout camp are play camp games in big fields and things like that. Scouts usually go on a camp every single month these camps are usually on a over nighter from Friday to Saturday and usually you don't get merit badges its just for fun. After you get merit badges you go to a court of Honor and they give you the actual merit badge and if you get enough merit badges you get to rank up.

Memorial Day Weekend with the Phillips Family

We hung out with the Phillips side of the family.  Headed to Morgan to Ashley and Megan's house.  They finished the fence, so all the kids were confined to the backyard {except for the boys who were playing guns and running everywhere}.  Kind of nice not to worry about who is where.  They can just kind of wander and have fun.
Before we went to their house, Tab, Jarom and Jerika went golfing with a few others.  On our way home from dropping them off, Eliza, me and Ammon stopped at the Weber River.
There is a spot where you can get on tubes and head down the river.  We got our feet wet and Ammon swung out a few times.....making sure not to fall in!
There were some guys fishing there-- they caught quite a few fish!

We had a great time eating, chatting....and of course it wuoldn't be a Phillips party without a joke or two about Nacho Libre..... Chancho!  {Ashley has a few new chickens....one with Chancho as it's name}
Good times, good times.
Oh, it was also grandpa Phillips birthday {coming up on the 31st} Eli and Jerika.  We sang and ate yummy chocolate cake.

Eliza's First Piano Recital

On Thursday night Eliza had her very first piano recital.  She has been taking lessons for a little bit over a year now and is getting pretty good.
She played two songs- one by memory.  She really enjoys her teacher, Mrs. Ward.  She lives down the street and is a great beginner teacher for piano.
I love that she tries hard and really enjoys taking lessons.
She also plays and makes her own songs.  She has written a few down to remember later.

Memorial Day with the Jorgensen Family

We headed to Anthony and Angelica's home for a bbq and some volleyball fun.  The kids love to play with their cousins.
Eliza has a pretty great serve with volleyball...kind of a fun surprise.  Jarom is also great at playing.
Jerika took off early to go out with some friends.

We also put the garden in.  The morning was sprinkly and cool and the perfect time to get the plants into the ground.  Not a whole lot, but quite a few tomatoes, zuchini, peppers, and pumpkins.  Excited to see what we get this year.  Last year we had a lot of tomatoes, but they didn't ever turn red, so it wasn't that great. This year I tried the Early Girl and hope we will get to eat more!

Jerika 17th Birthday Week

Her Birthday last year was the sweet 16, but didn't turn out to be that sweet.  She wasn't going for a party, so nothing really happened.
This year was a no party year, but it ended up to be better than last and simple.

After school she went golfing with Tab and did really well.  Her golf score is keeping low and improving.  Great news!  We took her to dinner.  Texas Roadhouse where Grandma and Grandpa Phillips joined us.
Super great food and fun.
She received a bowl of icecream and got to sit on the saddle while they all yelled yeehaa.  Fun stuff.
It was family night so all the kids got balloon animals and Jerika got a cowgirl hat to wear.  Love it!
She is such a cute girl.

Later on in the evening friends started to show up.  I had enough cake and icecream for everyone, so they all ate and chatted.  There is a big swing outside in the front and they all of course took turns.

They hung around until 11:30.  I think it was a great evening for her and them.

The next day she had the opportunity to ride along and be golf partners with the principal of Davis High School.  Dee Burton.
Dee Burton

He and she hit it off apparently and had a fantastic game and time together with the rest of their team.  They ended up winning....and having a great time.
That evening she came home and told me about her experience and said she was really nervous about going and golfing with him, but really had a great time.  She had asked him questions about him growing up, why he was the principle...and such.  I love that my kids aren't afraid of speaking with adults for the most part and can carry on a fairly normal conversation with others.
I listened and was impressed and then that was the end.
The next day, I recieved a phone call from the school.  It was Mr. Burton.  He had taken time out from his schedule {it's graduation week} to give me a call and let me know how special she was.  He said he had so much fun getting to know her and golfing with her.  That he hadn't had that much fun in a long time golfing and that she was just a joy.
He mentioned that she was a delight and someone special a few times and was impressed with who she was and how she handled things, behaved and her overall as a person.  He was very glad that he had the opportunity to meet her and had to let me know. He also mentioned that he had spoken with Mrs. Salvo {her golf coach and gym teacher} about the same things and that she had agreed with him.

He was kind of emotional about it....thinking now, that he is leaving the school this year and will not be the principle any longer.  I think this was a tender mercy for him to end on a very positive note, that he had something to do with the environment that she was in at school and that the kids turn out all right.
She mentioned that she asked him questions about his growing up and found out he had gone to Davis High and he told her a few stories which she really enjoyed.  I am not sure how many students actually take the time to find out about thier teachers or principals for that matter.  He probably doesn't get an opportunity that often to share his story and find someone that is interested in him alone and not ...what can I get out of or a roll of eyes, or cross words.  I am impressed that she listened to whatever was guiding her to ask, and that she did it, and was genuionly interested in what he had to say and who he was.

Jerika is a little sad that he will not be there next year, because she had a little connection with him.
She has an assignment to interview someone and she choose to go speak with him today to see if he would participate.  I really hope it happens...and she asked if it would be weird if she told him to call her if he ever needed someone to fill a spot in a golf group.

This was one of those proud parents moment.  Someone took time to make sure I knew something special about her.  I really was touched by his kindness and expressed my appreciation to him for calling.  It is interesting that we need that sometimes to know that all we are doing is good....and so good that others notice and take the time to report.
How lucky for us that we get our time with her and help her become better as a person and make a difference in others lives.
I maybe need to make note of others and when the time comes return the favor by reporting to someone else on their qualities I am impressed with.

Starting it all off

To help keep things up to date with the family and so we don't miss or forget something important, or not....I am starting this.
We have been together for 18 years.  We have moved 10 times.  Lived in 5 cities.
We are currently living in Kaysville.  Have been for 3 years now.
Trying to finish up the home to rent out.
Trying to get the garden going for the summer.
Living with others in mind {that's the goal at least}.
Loving each other {doesn't always happens, but everything circles back to love}.

Tab finished up his general contractors license last year....and though we would like to be exploring the world of building homes, he is keeping busy with remodels, electrical stuff, and drafting.  He is one hard working man.

Becky is growing a business.  It's finally coming full circle and is generating enough money to justify continueing.  She works with companies and products.  Sewing and selling patterns so others can sew and love.

Jerika- 17 this year.  Growing up so quickly.  Plays competition soccer, and is on the golf team for Davis High school for the second year.  They just completed state and won!  She is in the Laural presidency at church and loves to hang out with friends...with the occasional family tossed in there too.  She has earned her Bronze and Silver Award in Girl Scouts and will be working on her Gold this summer.

Jarom- 13.  He is loved by all girls.  His smile and personality is one not to miss.  He loves playing basketball and was on the Junior High volleyball team and basketball team.  His song for the year is 'everything is awesome'. Loves to go camping with the scouts and family.

Ammon- 12.  He stays in the background, but still makes quite a presence.  He lets others shine, which is a great quality to have.  He also plays basketball and jumps on the tramp.  He has found a love for the XBOX, which has to be controlled quite often.

Eliza- 10.  She is a girly girl.  Likes curly hair, her nails painted and dresses.  She plays soccer, goes to girl scouts and is very smart.

We will be updating this as often as possible to help keep track of our growth as a family and individually.
Let the fun begin!
